Janine graduated from the South Australian Institute of Technology (now University of SA) and began her career working with adults in the hospital and community sector. She gained extensive experience across many conditions and domains of function, including self-care, self-management, driving assessments, hand therapy, neurology rehabilitation, continence management, and aged care.

She further developed her Occupational Therapy skills and professional growth, becoming a Senior Consultant and was promoted to become the National Quality Manager of a Workplace Rehabilitation company. Janine’s expertise was recognised by the Victorian branch of the Australian Rehabilitation Provider Association (ARPA) with her being awarded the Outstanding Return to Work Achievement Award for a Psychological Claim (2011) and President’s award (2019) for Outstanding Service to the industry.

Throughout Janine’s career she has assisted many clients and colleagues, some demonstrating what she now believes to be autistic traits. Through this experience she came to realise how many people may be undiagnosed, struggling on their own.

On the base of this extensive professional knowledge and experience, Janine started her own private practice, Pathways 2 Independence, and further explored and embraced the neurodivergent world.

She chose the company name “Pathways 2 Independence” because there is always more than one strategy, solution, or approach. Everyone is individual and different, and as such, individual strategies and pathways are needed to enable success.

Janine’s passion is to assist neurodivergent people (e.g. autism and ADHD) to learn more about themselves, their preferences, and the authenticity of who they are. She then works with individuals to make their own choices around how they wish to approach and interact with the environment and society around them.

With her extensive knowledge across the University sector and work organisations, she is in a good place to assist adults, teens and children across the life span.
